Pathological and irrational aversion, rejection or fear to transsexuality, transgenderism or transvestism, to transexual, transgender, transvestite persons or who seem to be one, or to its manifestations. Like homophobia and lesbophobia, transphobia expresses itself through discrimination and through other forms of violence. In some societies, one can even see cultural, institutional, internalized and interpersonal transphobia, among others.
